As storytellers and mythmakers from time immemorial, we humans have always intuitively understood the power of narrative to shape reality. This reminds me of the concept of "neurathian web" from LessWrong - the idea that as xenofictors, we are continually rebuilding the ship of human knowledge and understanding while at sea, replacing planks and weaving new threads into the sails. A perpetual process of creative self-revision.
